Bonus wagering requirements explained

The headline number on a bonus is only half the story. The wagering requirement, game contributions and limits decide what an offer is really worth. Here's how to read the terms, with a worked example.

The full terms of a promotion matter more than the headline amount.

Most casino bonuses come with conditions you must meet before bonus money, or winnings from it, can be withdrawn. The most important is the wagering requirement, often called rollover or turnover. Understanding it takes a few minutes and can save a lot of frustration.

What a wagering requirement is

A wagering requirement is the total amount you must bet before a bonus becomes withdrawable cash. It's written as a multiple: “20× turnover” means placing bets that add up to 20 times a stated amount.

The key detail is what that multiple applies to. Some offers apply it to the bonus only; others apply it to the deposit plus the bonus, which doubles the turnover on a typical 100% match.

A worked example

This example is for illustration only. It is not a current Suka2Cuci offer; for those, see Suka2Cuci promotions.

  • You deposit RM100 and receive a RM100 bonus (a 100% match).
  • The terms require 20× turnover on the bonus: 20 × RM100 = RM2,000 in bets.
  • If the terms say 20× on deposit plus bonus: 20 × RM200 = RM4,000 in bets.

Now apply the house edge. On slots with a 96% RTP, the average cost of wagering is 4% of the total bet. Clearing RM2,000 costs about RM80 on average. Clearing RM4,000 costs about RM160, which is more than the RM100 bonus itself.

That doesn't make every bonus poor value. It shows why the multiplier, and what it applies to, matter more than the headline percentage. Try your own numbers in the wagering calculator.

Game contributions

Not every bet counts equally. Slots often count 100% of each stake toward turnover, while table games, live casino and some sports bets may count for less or not at all. If a game counts 10%, a RM100 bet clears only RM10 of turnover. The terms list the contribution for each game type.

Other terms to check

Bonus terms and what they mean
TermWhat it means
Maximum betThe largest stake allowed per spin or hand while the bonus is active. Going over it can void the bonus and its winnings.
Time limitHow long you have to complete the turnover before the bonus expires.
Maximum cash-outA cap on how much can be withdrawn from bonus winnings.
Excluded gamesGames that don't count toward turnover or can't be played with bonus funds.
Withdrawal rulesWhether withdrawing before you finish cancels the bonus.

Questions to ask before you claim

  1. What is the multiplier, and does it apply to the bonus or the deposit plus bonus?
  2. Which games count, and at what percentage?
  3. What is the maximum bet while the bonus is active?
  4. How many days do I have to finish?
  5. Is there a cap on winnings?
  6. Can I decline the bonus and play with my own money only?

If the terms don't answer these clearly, ask customer support before you deposit, not after.

“A bonus is worth what's left after the terms, not what's printed on the banner.”
It's fine to say no

Playing without a bonus means no turnover stands between you and a withdrawal. A bonus should never push you to deposit more than you planned. See setting limits that work.
